Senior Championship 2016

Hot sunny weather greeted the players for the 2016 Senior Championship played over the Dalbeattie course.  Over 30 seniors played in the Championship which was well up on the previous year.  Dalbeattie players showed that home advantage does pay off.  It was close at the top of the leaderboard but Brian Malcolm (Dalbeattie) won on countback from Jock Halliday both scoring 27 pts to win the Stableford Scratch Trophy.

Forthcoming Opens

Golfers are reminded that the Senior Championship takes place at Dalbeattie on Friday 29th July. Entries should be sent in by the 16th July. The Association calls for the support of senior golfers to play in the competition.

Kirkcudbrightshire Match Play Trophy 2016

Angus Lifts Trophy.
Up and coming golfer Angus Bendall (Castle Douglas) won his first Kirkcudbrightshire Match Play Trophy when he defeated Craig Smith (Dalbeattie) at Castle Douglas on Friday. Both players showed why they had got to the final playing sub par golf even though a strong wind and constant showers made conditions somewhat tricky.

Kirkcudbrightshire Strokeplay Championship 2016

A new name goes on the prestigious trophy, the President Jean Forrest presented the new champion Nathan Watson with the trophy – Nathan Watson (Kbt) won the Strokeplay Championship at Castle Douglas scoring a magnificent 66. The championship brings together all the top golfers from the Stewartry and this year the entry was up on the previous years.

AGM 2015

Kirkcudbrightshire Golfers’ Association AGM

The 2015 AGM was held recently at Castle Douglas Golf Club.  Attendance was good and those who attended heard reports  from the various sections of the Association.  2015 was a successful year with the junior team winning the Peat Salver, the first time in 18 years and numbers in all the championships were up on previous years.

Douglas Maxwell Memorial Championship

The Championship was started 40 years ago in memory of local golfer Douglas Maxwell.  At first it was only played over 9 holes then it went to 36 holes but presently the Championship is played over the Kirkcudbright Golf Club 18 hole course.  On Sunday over 40 of the best golfers in the area competed for the trophy.
